Our general email address is info@wim.gdst.net. Email addresses follow the pattern: firstname.surname@wim.gdst.net or firstinitial.surname@wim.gdst.net

We welcome communication from home and are keen to ensure that we respond in a timely manner to any queries you may have. That said, our staff may well be teaching all day and therefore may not be able to respond immediately. We would expect to get back to you with 24 hours during the working week. Unless the matter concerns an urgent safeguarding issue, parents should not expect staff to respond to emails over the weekend.

Absence From School

If your daughter is unable to attend school, the Senior School office needs to be informed by 8.50 am.

The School Office is open daily from 7am to 7pm and voicemail is switched on both before and after opening hours.

If your daughter is not marked present and no explanation for her absence is received by the end of morning registration, our Receptionist will call you. If it is clear that your daughter will be absent for several days in succession, please state this at the outset, so that you do not need to ring on a daily basis. On her return your daughter should bring a note to confirm the reason for her absence.

You must seek permission for students to be absent for any activity which is known in advance.

• Parents should write to the form tutor for permission for absence due to a dentist’s or doctor’s appointment or to take a music examination (or similar activity).

• Parents should write to the Head in all other circumstances - e.g: permission for a student to be absent for an important family event.

• Work will only be set for a student missing school due to illness, or whose absence has been negotiated as important for her education.

The GDST guidelines on absence for the purpose of taking a family holiday is very clear and the Head will not normally agree to such requests.
