FAQs

Here are some frequently asked questions which you might have about your daughter starting school.

If you have any other questions that are not answered here, please contact Junior School Admissions Registrar, Claire van der Merwe: c.vandermerwe@wim.gdst.net.

Practical Details

  • What are the hours of the school day? In Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, the school day runs from 08:30am to 15:15pm. Morning drop-off is at 8.20am.
  • What should my daughter bring with her on her first day of school? She should bring her book bag with her water bottle and a healthy, nut free snack.
  • What uniform should my daughter wear on her first day? She may wear her winter uniform, or her summer uniform if you have already purchased this.
  • How do I report my daughter's absence? Please call the Junior School office on 020 0971 0902 or email junior.absence@wim.gdst.net.
  • Can you provide a class list? When can we start to meet other parents?
Due to GDPR regulations, we are not able to distribute class lists, however we are able to share parent contact details with the new year group Class Reps, who usually aim to organise some get-togethers over the course of the summer holiday before school begins.
You will, of course, also have the opportunity to start meeting fellow new parents at our induction events.

Fees Questions

  • When will I receive the first invoice and when is the first fee payment due?
All fees matters are handled centrally by the GDST Trust Office. In August, the Trust office will send you your invoice (usually by email) for the first fee payment.
For all new starters, the first school fee payment will be due on the first day of term.
  • What date is the direct debit payment taken? For those paying by monthly Direct Debit, fees are split into 12 equal amounts and payment will be due on (or the next working day after) the 5th day of each month.
For those paying by termly Direct Debit, fees are split into 3 equal amounts and payment will be due on the first day of each term.

School Term Dates

The 2024-25 Academic Year starts on Wednesday 4 September 2024. If your daughter is starting Reception, please check her Staggered Start details to see which day she will be starting school (this will be confirmed to you in June).

We publish the school term dates on our website here.
