Summer Work:

Please ensure you revise the grammar covered in Year 10 and Year 11. In particular, you should be able to conjugate verbs in the present, perfect, future and conditional, and be familiar with all the word order rules you learnt. You can use the booklet attached to structure your revision if this is helpful – the answers are at the back. You are not expected to complete the booklet from front to back but should focus on the areas you find more challenging. 

Use the summer to watch a few German films or series such as Goodbye Lenin, Deutschland 83, Ballon, die Kaiserin or Lola rennt. Try to see how it feels to watch in German with German subtitles.

Fun activities:

- Create a German spotify playlist

- Light Listening: choose a German song and see whether you can write down the lyrics

- Try a few German podcasts for German learners

- Read about your favourite hobbies in German rather than English

- Learn one niche word each day

- Write a short travel diary / holiday diary entry everyday

- Read simple fairy tales in German
