Match report: U16A vs Churcher’s College

After a long drive, we arrived at Churcher’s College and started the match. 1 minute in, we scored our first goal: a slap from Rochelle. We had lots of momentum from this and continued playing mostly in their half. In the first half we played well, transferring the ball, working hard, and making good passes. Then, on a short corner, Kiana scored a hit, making it 2-0 to the green machines. Churcher’s fought back and their most dominant player scored a goal, putting the score at 2-1 before half time.

In the second half we played a bit frantically and made some mistakes such as mistraps and passing into the other team’s sticks. However, we started to gain our mojo again and did some great dribbles up the right side of the pitch. Nia did a fantastic job at man-marking her player, which led to our dominant performance in the second half. Ten minutes before the end, we won a short corner. Using our classic routine, Amelie (C) scored a lovely goal.

 The match finished 3-1.

To improve next time, we should attempt to not 'dive in' on every tackle, as this is what let the other team score. But it was a splendid match, nevertheless. We are through to the semifinals!
