The U13 A1 Hockey squad commenced the London in2 hockey competition with an unbalanced start, losing 1-0 in the first match, with a brilliant play from the other team however, we were fortunate to have been able to start the day with the sun shining strong.
The second match began with relentless tackles from each side, the whole team running in all directions. Unfortunately, the opponent scored, although, we soon recovered with Ella scoring two fantastic goals as well as Caitlin scoring one with a powerful hit. Sophia also scored one goal that went through the goal keeper's legs resulting in a victory of 4-1.
In the first quarter, both teams played strongly and Walthamstow Hall ended up gaining on us. Moving into the second quarter, Wimbledon came out hard and were able to score goals against Walthamstow, however, it wasn't enough to be beating them yet - ending the first half with the score 17-14 to Walthamstow.
During our half time talk with Ms Cutteridge and Ms Fowler, we were able to regain our focus on our strong, hard drives and our communication as a team.
The third quarter ended with a score of 23-22 to Walthamstow. For the fourth quarter, Wimbledon were determined to end on a high and scored the first two centre passes, finally putting us in the lead.
This Wednesday afternoon, we played against Ibstock Place. Despite the cold, grey weather, we managed to win 7-1!
The match began with Heloise dribbling past the opposition towards the goal which ended up resulting in a short corner and deflection! Then, motivated by our fast start proceeded to score another goal.
Unfortunately, on one of the few short corners which the other team received, they did score a goal, however, we made a rapid comeback with two consecutive goals. One of which included Ellie's much deserved first goal of the season (this does not include those she scored in shuffles and penalty flicks)!
