We lost the toss and Ewell Castle decided to bowl first. We batted very well but do need to focus on playing straighter shots and less across the line batting, as this did lead to a few wickets, as well as, playing a shot a bit later. There are a lot of positives for the batting, Caitlin and Sienna opened, with Caitlin facing the first ball and retiring for 52 of 18 balls! With even nine fours and two sixes the second flying over the fence! With a partnership of 81! Lots of amazing shots were played throughout the match including Sienna's pull shots flying for four and two sixes, scoring 30 of 26, Ellie’s flick off the pads in the gap for four by square leg, and Caitlin hitting over the bowlers' head for a couple nice one bounce fours. There were even some sixes hit! Issy B and Isobel H finished off the innings not out with Issy on 15 off 33 and Isobel on 8 off 6. In total we achieved a great score of 188.
Congratulations to all that ran in the mini London Marathon this weekend, congratulations on your completion of the event.
Our very own Maddie M represented New Zealand in the 2024 Gymnastics World Cup in Doha recently and PB'd every piece. That's an amazing result, well done Maddie, you continue to inspire us!
We were very proud to be selected and have two WHSBC crews represent our region (Thames London) this weekend in Nottingham. Imogen L and Scarlett P (Y11) went in the WJ16 2- whilst Aanya S, Arabella K, Iona A, Emily H and Zoe H (Y10) represented in the WJ15 4+.
After a very early start to get to Nottingham, Immy and
Scarlett put together a strong performance in challenging conditions during
their time trial, placing 4th and bagging a place in the A Final.
Later in the morning our year 10s raced strongly to get 2nd place in
the time trail, also placing them in the A final.
The pair had an excellent row in their final, and placed 5th in a very
quick time amongst a tough field. In the fours final our girls raced a dominant
race, pulling away from the pack in the first 200m and continuing to stretch
their lead right through to the finish line where they took the win. Incredibly
proud of all our athletes that went to race, they produced some very high-quality
performances to represent WHSBC.
Many congratulations to Farrah and her Surrey Storm U17 NPL Squad who won the Netball Performance League South division after playing teams such as London Pulse, Team Bath, Saracens and Severn Stars winning 4 from 4.
