Wimbledon High wholeheartedly believes in a holistic education. It is important that students are inspired by knowledge, skills and understanding outside of the classroom.
Likewise, in a highly academic school we understand the importance of a balanced approach to school life and so value activities that give time for student reflection, relaxation and the time to learn new skills and aptitudes such as resilience, empathy, humility and to build resilience and leadership skills.
Expectations
In Years 7 and 8, students can sign up to a number of
different activities. In the senior school we give students a guideline as to
how many clubs to attend.
Years 7 and 8 = 4-6 hours per week
Activities may take place before school, at lunchtime or after school. At the start of the academic year, your daughter will attend ClubsFest, where, along the lines of a Freshers Fair at university, she will be able to find out about the activities on offer and sign up to those she is interested in. The range of activities is extensive but there are four main ‘pillars’ of our offering: Music, Drama, Sport and Academic Enrichment and we timetable as carefully as we can to avoid clashes between the main elements of these four pillars. All are of course also important features of our curriculum.
