We were pleased to invite Jessica O'Kelly, performance psychologist, into WHS, to talk to last years' U16A Netball squad, they looked at strategies which could help them when participating in any sport.
Here is a brief report from their session:
Our squad found the session with Jess extremely useful; it made us think about our motivations and strategies when it comes to important match play.
This weekend was the WHSBC Ergathon! It is one of our most highly anticipated fundraising events that brings our rowing community together. This year, we decided to row to Nottingham, as it is the location for the National Schools Regatta, which will be held in May 2025.
A total of 185 girls and parents came together to row a combined distance of 240 kilometres, a hugely impressive distance. There were some huge efforts from our girls and from the parents on the rowing machines, all pushing themselves to finish first! Thanks to the dedication and enthusiasm of all participants, we completed the challenge in just two and a half hours, with the effort split across six teams. Everyone showed incredible teamwork and community spirit.
Many Congratulations to Farrah on her selection into the U19 London Pulse Netball Academy, competing in the NPL for 2024/25.
Fantastic news....
This weekend marked the first race of the season for WHSBC at the Kingston Small Boats Head Race.
Years 9–13 took part in the 5.2 km races, and they all did an amazing job!
We had some fantastic results across all year groups, with Year 9 securing 2nd and 3rd place in the quads, Year 10 taking home 2nd place in the singles and 2nd place in the doubles, and the senior squad finishing 3rd in the coxed fours.
We had great success at Surrey qualifiers, placing second in our pool and advancing to the finals next March with only one loss. The day started off slowly but we managed to recover our first game, this gave us a good flow throughout the day.
We played well as a team and were able to gain confidence in each other and try different combinations. In the future we will look to start stronger and improve on our timing of passes.
Overall it was a good day and we can't wait for finals.
