On Friday 10 May WHS hosted the annual Road to Wimbledon U14 Tournament where 10 girls from the Tennis Performance Pathway competed in a round robin tournament.
The winner was Rhea M (Y9) and the Runner up was Issy B (Y8), following closely behind was Tara O (Y7).
We are delighted to confirm that Kiana and Rochelle O (Yr. 10) attended
Wycombe Abbey on Saturday to represent WHS in the U16 National Schools
Tournament. The amazing news is that they came 2nd! What a
fantastic achievement.
Their very first match was against St Edward’s, and they won 6-0. Their second match was against Sevenoaks School, which they lost 6-3.
Due to the girls scoring so highly in their group they progressed into the knockout stages where they played Sevenoaks School once more and won 7-6 with a tiebreak of 7-3!
We are delighted to confirm that Amelie has been awarded a full sports scholarship to the University of Virginia to play hockey! We wish her all the best with her new adventure.
Amelie also played in the 2024 Women's Club finals last month, the team finished 4th in the country! During the tournament Amelie was coached by Alex Danson-Bennett, a hockey legend and currently President of England Hockey. Well done Amelie, we are so proud of you.
The tournament kicked off with the round-robin stage, where Alisa and Amelie faced off against a series of opponents. A minor hiccup occurred against Surbiton, where a closely contested match resulted in a loss. Advancing to the semi-finals, Wimbledon encountered St. Georges in a match filled with lengthy rallies and strategic gameplay, St. Georges edged out a victory.
The battle for third place saw Wimbledon dominating Putney. With renewed focus the team delivered an outstanding performance, securing a win and claiming the third spot on the podium. Third place sets a solid foundation for future successes. The team looks forward to building on this experience and reaching even greater heights in the seasons to come.
