Level of Risk |
The local context: have there been local cases of radicalisation or movement to areas of conflict? |
Yes, but not in this borough. Biggest threat in Merton is gang-related activity and gangs are very vulnerable to extremist influence. Online means that all are vulnerable, regardless of area. |
Low-risk borough relative to local area, but medium risk nationally. |
The Parent Body · Have parents expressed concerns about vulnerability to radicalisation? · Is there any concern about parents expressing extremist views? |
No |
Low |
The pupil body: · Is there any evidence of pupils expressing extremist views? · Using the published 'Prevent' guidance criteria, are there concerns about the vulnerability of any particular pupils or groups of pupils? |
No evidence of pupils expressing extremist views. |

The staff: ·
Are members of staff clear on their
obligation to challenge extremist views? · Is there any concern about staff expressing extremist views? |
All
staff have been trained specifically in Prevent procedures and carried out online Channel training (certificated). The local Prevent Liaison Officer provided all-staff training in the past and we are looking to new guidance for 2025. There is a plan, dependent on new guidance, to refresh training for all staff in Jan '25.
