I love sport at Wimbledon High School, because I came into WHS not knowing how to play Hockey, practically knowing nothing, but due to the help from the teachers, I know a lot more about hockey and it is now one of my favourite sports. Another thing I like is that there are opportunities to grow within a sport whether you have no experience, some experience or a lot of experience. For example, I played some netball at my old school so was in a good position coming into the Spring term - the netball term - I went in thinking that my favourite position on the court is centre, then I tried different ones like wing attack and wing defence. Then I tried goal attack and discovered that I really enjoy that position. My netball skills have expanded and I am very grateful that the teachers have helped me and given me opportunities. These are showing that we are so lucky as a school to have the facilities we have, the teachers we have and the sports we are able to play.

Wimbledon High has a wide range of sports that many students love playing. I love sport at WHS because it encourages me to try new things and challenge myself in ways that I can’t do otherwise. I play netball, tennis and hockey and I always enjoy myself, no matter which one I am doing. The netball is amazing, as there is always a team for everyone, no matter what level you are. As well as that, the coaches are so supportive, and they really push you to do the best you can. However, one of the best things is how encouraging the teachers are when you are new to a sport. I had never played hockey before I came to WHS, and now it is one of my favourite sports. I was taught at my level and pace, along with others in the same position as me, and it created a great learning atmosphere where you were not afraid to try new skills and challenge yourself as a player. Overall, I love the sport at WHS because of all the opportunities it creates, and how supportive the school is, no matter what level you are. It pushes you, and you can improve massively over a very short space of time.
