The team had a very positive tournament, winning all games to go through to the finals day later in the year. Here are the details of one of the matches:
Score: Wimbledon High School 6-0 Portsmouth High School
Our final match of the day was against Portsmouth, and we won 6-0; a great result to finish a very successful day of hockey.
The first ever Hockey match for many of our U12s.
For the whole hockey match, we worked as a team really well. We called for the ball and went into space to widen the pitch and escape from the defenders. Our defence was really good as the opposition attacked for quite a long time but only managed to score two goals.
We think they scored as we didn't have our heads up to look forward, they took the ball from us when we trying to get it out of the circle. Also, our attack was fantastic as we scored five goals in total. We worked hard and well to get the goals in. We kept the ball away from the opponents, which was very good. Our team who scored were: Sophie, Elise, Daisy, and Olivia L.
After a very busy summer of training and tournaments we are pleased to announce that Alisia won the U18 tournament yesterday at the Weybridge Tennis academy.
Many congratulations from us all at WHS.
In early 2024, current Y9 pupil Inez S worked with the
school to form an equestrian squad under the National Schools Equestrian
Association (NSEA) with the aim being to qualify either as a team or as an
individual for national events against schools from across the UK.
In February and March 3 of our pupils; Inez S, Alice W Y8 and Eleanor W Y8 entered the winter pop up dressage series (virtual dressage judged professionally) with Inez & her horse achieving individual qualification to represent the school at the NSEA National Championships at Hickstead in May. Following this first school event Alice said “I loved recording my Prelim test for the NSEA dressage, and I was so proud of my result and to be representing Wimbledon High on Poppy”.
The U18 Tennis players had a fantastic day at the annual GDST Tennis Rally and won, bringing home the most amazing shield!
A huge well done to the team! What a way to finish the season.
