On Sunday 8 December 2024 Mia competed at her new grade, Aspire, at the South East Regional Championships, in a duo routine.
They scored a whopping 26.05 winning the Gold medal to become the regional
champions.
This is an amazing result, well done Mia and partner.
Congratulations from us all at WHS
We are delighted to confirm that Maya finished 2nd in the Manchester Gold Squash tournament.
These tournaments are held only three times a year and are the level just below the English and British Championships.
PE Curriculum - Sport Science
We asked a few students for their feedback on our Sports Science lessons, here are their reports:
Sports science was a very enjoyable lesson this term. We learnt all about the components to what makes someone a better athlete. This included: diet, learning your limits when engaging in a specific sporting practice, how to treat injuries, the importance of a good night’s rest and how to take proper breaks so your body does not have to reach the point where it feels overwhelmed etc.
On Sunday we had our Christmas pudding races to celebrate the festive season with all our rowers. Due to the weather the races took place on land and involved running and exercises in mixed year group teams.
Despite the rain and wind, the rowers all showed up with great Christmas spirit and sprinted fast to try and win the races. Each team showed amazing enthusiasm and determination. The coaches even dressed up in an array of Christmas costumes!
On Saturday, our J14 rowers raced at Dorney Lake against Surbiton High School, Lady Eleanor Holles School and St George’s College. They competed in two 1500m long races and WHS came away with some amazing results!
Most notably, all our Wimbledon rowers came away with a medal, which is wonderful! One of our quads was also the fastest boat of the day, even beating all the Octo’s times. This is an amazing achievement.
