U15A Hockey v City of London Freemen's School 5 March 2024

What a perfect way to end the season!

We started the match rather frantically but slowly gained our mojo, with some amazing one touch passes in the opposing half that led to lots of entries into the opposition D. We had some great shots that were saved but eventually got a short corner thanks to Stella. A great deflection from Saskia to Eva scored our first goal!

During our team talk before the second half, we aimed to do more transfers and to calm down. This was achieved very well and Nia scored a great goal, as well as Rochelle scoring a hat-trick. It was a stellar team effort for all of the goals, especially good passes from Eva and Henny that led to Rochelle’s deflections.

U15B Netball v Alleyn's Saturday 3rd February

As a team, we are extremely coordinated, and work together very well. Our attack and defence were immensely strong, and our positionings for the ball were exceedingly good. The timings of receiving the ball were precise and passing ahead of the players allowed us to move into space constantly thinking ahead. The defence applied a lot of pressure to the opposition especially the GD and GK because there were lots of turnovers in the opponent's D's which allowed us to take advantage.

Even though our GS was missing, the three who replaced the position of Kiana, Amaya, and Harriet, performed extremely well and adapted incredibly, working tremendously with the GA (myself) to position the GA in the most effective position on court. The shooting was hugely accurate, and the WA and C carried the ball down the court very efficiently, being a clear option for the GA and GS in the D to turn out and reset to.

Maya G (Yr7) Squash update

Last weekend Maya (Yr7) played in a regional Squash tournament called the Bromley Bronze and came first in the girls U15, and U17 cup competitions, which is an amazing achievement as Maya is in the U13 age bracket. Maya won both competitions without dropping a game!

She has the English Junior Championships this week and will compete in the U13 competition, all at WHS wish her the very best.

U12B Netball v Alleyn's Saturday 3 February 2024

Today’s netball match vs Alleyn’s was a great success as we beat them 17-3.

We think that we played quite well, however at the start it took us a while to get our minds in the game, in the first quarter we didn’t focus as much as we needed to and made some silly mistakes, such as footwork and lots of replayed balls. Other than that, we think that we played fairly well.

In the defence area, we could work on our snatching the ball, instead of whacking it out of court and also, we could do second stage defence more successfully. However, we did very well in getting the rebound after the opponents attempt at goal.

U14B Netball v Alleyn's School Saturday 3 February 2024

The game started really well and we used our centre passes to score some quick goals. We gained confidence early and made some really good interceptions which prevented too many goals from Alleyn's throughout the first two quarters.

We made some strong overhead passes throughout the court which helped us to get to the post and score really quickly. Our defenders were really strong and got lots of good rebounds which led to turnovers. Overall, I think we could make sure we get in front of our players instead of asking for the ball over, when possible.
